RoanTek unveils the Proximity Platform and its first three story apps

BALTIMORE, Md., May 19, 2026 — RoanTek, LLC today unveiled the Proximity Platform, a location-aware platform for apps that tell the stories of the places around you, and the first three apps built on it. PastPing, Hauntifi and ShadowPlaces notice the historic, haunted and true-crime places near you and tell their stories with narration, text and photos. The apps are in development for iOS, Android and the web.

Each app is a focused product for one audience. PastPing helps people discover the history they are standing next to. Hauntifi maps the paranormal, ordered by how close it is. ShadowPlaces is a true-crime map of where it actually happened. All three draw on a curated catalogue of places and an AI storytelling engine.

“Most places have a story that the people walking past them never hear,” said a RoanTek spokesperson. “We built the Proximity Platform so that telling those stories does not start from scratch each time. The engine, the catalogue and the apps share one foundation, so a new subject of interest is a matter of configuration rather than a new product.”

The platform was designed with security and scale built in from the start. Because the three apps share it, an improvement made for one of them, such as better location handling or a richer story format, reaches all of them.

RoanTek plans further apps on the Proximity Platform for other subjects of interest. News about each app is published on its own website: www.pastping.com, www.hauntifi.com and www.shadowplaces.com.
