The short version

  • Only two kinds of things are stored: essential preferences, and analytics cookies if you allow them.
  • Analytics cookies are never set unless you say yes, and a Global Privacy Control signal counts as no.
  • You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.

What this policy covers

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Websites can also keep small amounts of information in your browser’s local storage. This policy lists everything roantek.com stores in your browser and why. It covers roantek.com only; our apps’ websites have their own policies.

Essential: always on

These make the site work the way you asked. They are not cookies; they are kept in your browser’s local storage and are never sent to us.

  • roantek-theme (local storage, set by roantek.com): remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. Kept until you clear it or choose "System" again.
  • Cookie choice (local storage, set by roantek.com): remembers whether you allowed analytics, so we do not ask on every page. Kept for 12 months, then we ask again.

Analytics: only if you allow them

If you allow analytics, Google Analytics 4 sets the cookies below to help us understand how the site is used. Google Signals and advertising personalisation are turned off.

  • _ga (cookie, set by Google Analytics): distinguishes visitors. Lasts up to 2 years. TODO(legal): confirm the current duration with Google’s documentation.

Performance monitoring without cookies

If you allow analytics, we also use Azure Application Insights from Microsoft to measure how quickly pages load and to catch errors. We have configured it not to set any cookies.

Changing your choice

When you first visit, analytics are off. You can allow or decline them in our cookie settings, and change your mind at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. Declining is as easy as allowing.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a choice to decline analytics and do not ask.

You can also delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. If you do, the site will ask for your cookie choice again.
